Dear Ones,
Here is an update on our Good News Club at Skyline Elementary, which meets Monday afternoons from 2:00-3:30 p.m.
We appreciated the monetary offering we recently received from Craig Mayer's Sunday School Class of $260.00. We used $110.00 to purchase incentive prizes from Oriental Trading and edible treats for weekly use with the children. We sent $150.00 to Jane Frook at Child Evangelism to apply towards our curriculum expenses for this year's Good News Club. We expect to need approximately $200.00 more to cover curriculum costs for the entire school year.
Children's Bibles have been ordered for our students at a total cost of $207.12 (ie: $8.63 per Bible). Several of the children are new to our Good News Club and do not have a Bible. These Bibles match the ones we purchased last school year and are written at a third grade reading level, so they can be easily read by the children. We have received one gift of $100.00 from an individual outside of our Sunday School Class that was given specifically to help purchase Bibles for the children who did not have one.
Anyone wishing to contribute towards Bibles can write a check to Rod or Jill Perkins since we have purchased the Bibles on our credit card so we could get copies to the children as early as possible. If anyone wishes to contribute towards the CEF curriculum, they can write checks to: "Child Evangelism Fellowship." Monies donated to CEF would be tax deductible if you do not specify usage on the checks. Please see us if you have any questions.
We are averaging 27 children in attendance, grades 1 through 5, at the Skyline Elementary Good News Club, and so far, 5 children have prayed to receive Christ as Savior.
Faithful workers are a continued blessing to us. This year the following individuals have volunteered: Johnny Branson, Lee Cobb, Tom Costa, Carole Dillon, Mary and Chuck Firestone, Portia Wright, Lisa Donner, and Rod & Jill Perkins. As you might expect, all of these people are not able to assist each and every week. They are a terrific team!
Thank the LORD with us as we look forward to a great year - evidencing spiritual growth in our GNC workers, as well as the children.
Sincerely,
Rod and Jill Perkins
